Internship requirements
Internships are available during the Fall, Spring or Summer academic terms.
Credit options: 3 credits (135 hours) or 6 credits (270 hours).
Academic credit for internships is transferable through Jacksonville University (Florida), accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Complete with 1-4 other academic courses including Italian language (all levels available).
Students wishing to candidate for the international internship course here in Sorrento, Italy:
- must have an overall GPA of 2.5
- must be of junior/senior standing at time of internship
- are only eligible for internships in their major/minor field of study, depending on the relevant coursework and experience completed in the field
- may choose between 3 and 6-credit internship options. (9-credit options may still be considered on a case-by-case basis for direct-credit from the student’s home university)
**Note: Internships have an additional course fee of $400 USD, which covers registration and insurance compulsory by Italian law to participate, valid from summer 2016 term.
Language: Most internships can be conducted in English, without a prior knowledge of the Italian language, however see individual fields and placements for language specifications.

Interning with Sant’Anna allows students to experience a different side of life in Italy. Sant’Anna has long-standing partnerships with community businesses that welcome the input of American students and hope to engage and grow as an organization as much as the students do the same.

“I didn’t realize how unique and hands-on my internship at Punta Campanella would be until my first day [as I was] sitting with my advisor, Mimi, we abruptly received a call from a local Salerno fisherman! Having to stop everything we were doing, we headed on our first adventure to go save a sea turtle! Thereafter, Mimi and I have focused on interpreting the heritage of the peninsula we live on. In the future, we plan to open a safe place to bring the sea turtles that have been hurt from the [fishing] nets. We also plan to go on many excursions in the sea!”- Katie Hibbard
